About the event
Speakeasy, our monthly music and poetry evening. Musicians and poets each do a 20-25 minute set which is followed by open mic. Afterwards we mingle for conversation, connection and light refreshments.Â
Featuring music from Steve Shain and Friends. Steve is an artist who uses the bass for self-expression in orchestras, jazz duos and trios, as well as ecstatic dance/poetry accompaniment. He has played and recorded with Eugene Istomin, Gabrielle Roth, Peggy Stern, Tom Waits, Darrell Devore, Richard Waters, Ruth Weiss, Eugene Ruggles, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, lack Micheline, David Best and Earl LeClaire.
Featuring poetry from Raphael Block. Long-time meditator, breathes in wonder at Earth's and our own rhythmic ebb and flow. He has published five books of poetry, including, At This Table (2020), and The Dreams We Share (2023).He produces a monthly Earth-Love Newsletter.
